OUR WORK Ensuring the efficient & effective flow of American freight
Our mission is to drive innovative solutions which improve port performance, air quality and infrastructure that enhances the reliability and velocity of intermodal freight through our nation’s ports and intermodal gateways.
For over a decade, CRT has spearheaded the implementation of voluntary industry standards across the country.
CRT’s member companies were among the earliest in the industry to support comprehensive port air quality goals that were ultimately implemented at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in 2007.
Member companies deployed the majority of operational alternative fuel trucks, including 1,500 clean diesel trucks, to the Ports of L.A. and Long Beach.
CRT’s retailers committed to moving at least 75% of their cargo nationally with clean port trucks. This persuaded the EPA to focus on voluntary emission reduction programs, rather than new regulations.
Developed proposals incorporated into Clean Air Action Plan adopted by the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in 2017, ensuring proposed vessel and truck fees would be examined for potential economic impacts.
Advocating for the inclusion of an industry perspective in legislative and regulatory activities.
Through our efforts, we have proven ourselves to be effective at facilitating collaborative dialog between member companies and legislative policymakers. This involvement helps to ensure that efforts at increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of ports and intermodal transportation are not compromised or undermined.
